The Changjiang Sidecar Motorcycle has its roots in the legendary BMW R71, a robust and reliable motorcycle originally produced in Germany during the 1930s. Reverse-engineered as the M72 for the Russian military, the design and manufacturing process was later shared with China in the 1950s, leading to the birth of the Changjiang CJ750 sidecar motorcycle in the 1950s.
The CJ750 remained in factory production at Nanchang, China at the HongDu Hong Leong factory with a RHD sidecar version being produced for the UK and South African markets until 2009, after which all factory production of the CJ750 ceased.
in 2001 the Luoyang Changjiang Motorcycle Technology Co. located in Luoyang city, Henan Province released the Euro 5 version of the new Changjiang CJ650B sidecar model inspired by the original CJ750 but with a completely new modern and high tech design.
Built in a $600 million, 100 000 square meter factory equipped with state of the art production equipment and facilities the CJ650B is built under strict ISO9001 standards and all products are “CCC” and EEC certified. The CJ650B has been exported to Europe and The UK since 2001 and is now the top selling sidecar in Europe.
